Mid-February - The Annual Southern Umpires' Camp

The Southern Umpires Camp is held in Atlanta, Georgia, in mid-February and is for beginning and experienced umpires. The Southern Umpires Camp began in 1984. If was the first amateur umpires camp to utilize Major League Umpires.

They have added plans to offer video to the students. Video of field work, game work and cage work with the major league umpires. Every camp since 1984 has been sold out. They offer classroom, tests, 2 man mechanics, live games, cage work, and field work.

Jim Evans Academy Of Professional Umpiring

In February 1998 Jim Evans acquired Joe Brinkman's Umpire School. The two schools merged together and operate at the Osceola County Sports Complex, the complex is the spring training home of the Houston Astros. Amateur courses are held each November and professional courses in January/February.
