The Eastern Ontario Umpires Association

The EOUA formally ceased to exist in 2004 largely lack of time to maintain its activities and to maintain a baseball umpire schedule on the part of its members. This information is maintained for archival purposes only.

The EOUA was formed in recognition that umpires working at the top of the amateur level required more than just a one-time clinic to stay at the best of their game each season. As a group we also recognized that local baseball and softball associations were in need of experienced mentors to work with their beginning officials.

Normally our meetings are held electronically to save on the driving distance for our members. A list server and other computer technology makes communication simple and convenient.

Membership is open to any individual, regardless of age and ability, who makes application, pays the Association membership fee and remains in good standing with the Association. From that point on our monthly training sessions and quarterly newsletter "The Slot" are just some of the benefits members receive. Members with electronic mail are also enrolled in "EOUAlist", a list server that facilitates discussion and communication.

The EOUA does not act as an assigner or contractor, or restrict an official's ability to work or belong to any other league or organization.

All training and materials are offered on a cost recovered basis. The EOUA is not in existence to make a profit but to provide a forum for the ongoing growth and development of all its members. The EOUA does not recognize levels of membership or levels of umpiring preferring to work together towards our common goals. The EOUA strives to make each member a better umpire the next time they take the field regardless of age or ability.

The EOUA is not an assigning organization, but we would be happy to recommend umpires who possess the personal qualities and officiating skills needed to assist any group within our region. Our clinicians have considerable experience and training and are prepared to work with your trainers to enhance clinics, meetings or other official's development.
